Day 5 - @ Sea - no pictures

So as with all of our sea days - we took it easy on day 5. We woke up at about 9:30 and ate breakfast in the 9th deck buffet at about 10. At dinner the previous night our waiter informed us that pending good weather, we'd have a barbecue on deck at lunchtime - it didn't happen. The weather was steadily improving as we moved south - but not nice enough for a BBQ. We played card games, watched movies, went to a "shopping talk" to hear about how we needed to plan our Venice and Dubrovnik excursions around shopping - of course they were trying to get us to buy things like Murano Glass chandeliers (when we got to Venice we saw this cost upwards or 20,000 Euros - even if we liked them - which we didn't at all - we would never spend that kind of money - I need to save up for a new car), or Pianegonda jewelry. It was painfully obvious that the shopping people on board would get some kind of commission on those high ticket items. We'd do fine on our own.

By this time a lot of people on board recognized us - Rachel's foot, plus our age (everyone thought we were about 10 years younger than we are) made for interesting conversation. Everyone wanted to know what we did to have fun - they didn't realize that we fit in well with the bridge playing seniors. We were early to bed and early(ish) to rise. Apparently not many single young women cruise the Mediterranean with their sisters. We enjoyed it - even if we were oddballs.

We were excited to dock in Sicily - the weather was supposed to be nice (in the 70's) and the town we were going to was super chic. Add to that the anticipation of cannoli and citrus trees and we knew it would be a good day.
